Tampere Trade Fairs Postpones Trade Fair Events for Spring 2021
News 16.02.2021
Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd. has decided to postpone their remaining trade fair events scheduled for spring 2021. The decision concerns the Virittäydy vapaalle (“Get ready for the freetime”) event programme, which has been delayed until April 2022, as well as the EuroSafety, Workplace Welfare, Food and Drink Industry, and Logistics trade fairs in May, which will now take place in September 2022. The rest of the events for spring 2021 have already been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fair company still believes strongly in a busy event season next autumn.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it appears that organising large-scale trade fairs is still not possible this spring,” says Hannu Vähätalo, the CEO of the Tampere Trade Fairs Group. “We have spoken to the teams of experts from different fields working on these events, and everyone has agreed on the decision to postpone. As such, we will delay the consumer fairs scheduled for April by a year, until April 2022, and the professional events in May until September 2022. There is already light at the end of the tunnel, so the events in autumn will be held as planned. Hopefully, we will be able to organise smaller events even earlier. The autumn is set to be a very busy time for us.”
May Trade Fairs Postponed Until September 2022
A series of four trade events – EuroSafety, Workplace Welfare, Food and Drink Industry, and Logistics – were originally planned to be held in September 2020. Due to the pandemic, the fairs were postponed until May 2021. All exhibit committees and the sponsor of the EuroSafety trade fair, the Finnish Work Safety Association (STYL), have supported the postponement. According to the new schedule, the EuroSafety and Workplace Welfare events will be held from the 13th to the 15th of September in 2022, and the Logistics and Food and Drink Industry events from the 14th to the 15th of September in 2022, in the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre. The themes and subjects of the events are intended to remain unchanged.
“The coming May is too early a date for a series of large-scale international events,” says Mari Taskinen, the chairwoman of the Finnish Work Safety Association. “As such, the postponement of the EuroSafety trade fair, as well as the contemporaneous events for Workplace Welfare, Food and Drink Industry, and Logistics, is the only appropriate option. For now, we aim to approach our customers in other ways, and wait excitedly for the chance to meet again in person at the fair in September 2022.”
The Virittäydy vapaalle Event Programme Delayed Until April 2022
Virittäydy vapaalle (“Get ready for the freetime”) – an event programme aimed at the general public – will be rescheduled from the end of April 2021 to April 2022. The trade fair was originally scheduled for April last year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was delayed until this spring. Now the trade fair is postponed by another year. The event programme consists of exhibitions by Yard & Interior, Travelling in Finland, World of Collectibles and Suuri Snadi, all of which, according to the new schedule, will be held from 22nd to 24th of April in 2022, in the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre. The themes and subjects of the events are intended to remain unchanged.
